Tales from the Tavern

Our next Tales from the Tavern concert is in two weeks, Wed. Sept. 6, and will feature two performers making their first appearance at TFTT.

Starting out the night, we have Ed Snodderly, who comes to us from the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee (at the recommendation and endorsement of our friend, Malcolm Holcombe.) Ed is an important figure in the world of Southern music and culture. You may recognize him from the movie, O Brother, Where Art Thou, where he played “The Village Idiot,” but Ed’s influence in the arts extends broadly through music, literature, acting, and as the owner and operator (for the past 45 years) of an important roots-music venue in Johnson City, Tennessee, The Down Home. Malcolm sent us Ed’s latest album, and we flipped over it. It features guest performances by Malcolm, Gretchen Peters, Maura O’Connell, and this one, with Amethyst Kiah

We’re delighted, also, to welcome Mama’s Broke, a duo based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia and New Orleans. Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria Bates are multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters that have been pounding the trans-Atlantic-tour-trail for 10 years, presenting an interesting original mix of a capella songs, banjo-and-fiddle tunes, Cajun, Celtic, Quebecois, Balkan music, and more. We’re thrilled to bring them to the TFTT stage. You can check them out here in a recent NPR TINY DESK CONCERT.

We are excited to announce that tickets for the 2024 Spring Series are now on sale. You canBUY THEM HERE AT THE SUPER-DISCOUNTED PRE-SALE PRICE.
