ANNUAL GRANT BUDGET

ACTION NOW

The annual grant-making budget is the vehicle used by the Foundation to provide immediate support to the excellent nonprofits that provide critical services and programs throughout the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos.

ENDOWMENT FUND

BUILD A BETTER TOMORROW

The Endowment Fund is the wellspring for the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation’s giving. Donations collected from the community continue to build the Fund with the goal of perpetually funding excellent and effective service programs, education programs, health services, senior and youth services and arts & cultural projects for the entire community. Gifts of any size can be designated for the Endowment Fund.

The Endowment Fund is carefully invested throughout the year. In January the Board of Directors votes to utilize 5% of the Endowment Fund to provide the grant making budget for the year.  The larger the Fund grows through our collective giving, the larger and steadier the impact of the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation’s grants grow.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

CHANGE A LIFE

A college education sets a positive trajectory for a young person’s life. Yet the costs of a college education have become crippling. The Santa Ynez Valley Foundation is determined to bring in sufficient donations so we can provide four full years of scholarship assistance to determined and deserving young men and women from the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos.   Interested donors can give to the growing James Dodson Scholarship Endowment Fund or give directly to the annual scholarship budget.

FIELD OF INTEREST FUND

A field of interest fund is an endowed fund established under an agreement with the Foundation to be an irrevocable gift to the Foundation for the benefit of nonprofit organizations in one or more fields as agreed with the Foundation at the time the fund is created, such fields being among those acceptable to the Foundation for its own grant-making purposes.

Each fund shall be recorded on the books of the Foundation as a separate fund and may be named by the Donor.

Since the Foundation’s purpose is to serve the people of the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Alamos, grantees selected by the Foundation’s Trustees must similarly serve the people of these areas.

Often philanthropists build Legacy Gifts into their estate plans, proud and fulfilled to continue serving their community after their passing.   A Legacy Gift can be designated in a variety of ways. The Foundation staff and board will honor your instructions for utilizing the donation left to create a stronger community.
