Cabrillo Marine Aquarium - Open House

Cabrillo High School Aquarium Open to the Public

OPEN HOUSE  Wed. April 13th 6-8pm

NEW WAVE TANK to Debut at Earth Day Celebration!

The Cabrillo HS Aquarium will debut an all-new wave tank at our upcoming Open House on April 13th, 6-8pm! The new “Coastal Splash Exhibit” uses a 15-foot long wave tank to demonstrate the dynamic coastal surf zone, featuring live animals that call this ever-changing habitat home. Interactive activities will also highlight the upcoming Earth Day, allowing visitors of all ages to explore ways that we can help make our big blue marble a better place to live.

The Aquarium’s ongoing projects and exhibits will also be featured and admission is free. Horn shark eggs and an all-new frog exhibit will be on display, along with the largest exhibition of jellies between Long Beach and Monterey! The Aquarium’s new Interactive Tidepool Exhibit is also a must-see. The next Open House, taking place May 18th from 6-7:30pm, will be the final Open House of the school year and highlight student projects from our amazing Aquarium Seniors.

Located in the front of the Cabrillo High School campus, the Cabrillo High School Aquarium has worked since 1986 to promote stewardship of our oceans through a student-run, cross-curricular, project-based learning environment. The program welcomes over 7,000 visitors annually. The Aquarium’s current 6,000 square foot facility features over 20 live and static displays, maintained and hosted by Cabrillo High School students. For more information, contact Aquarium Director Greg Eisen at eisen.greg@lusd.org or (805) 742-2888. Regular Aquarium updates can also be found on the Aquarium’s Facebook page and at www.cabrilloaquarium.org.
