Arrowsmith's Culture Series

Following on from last week's highly successful Cultural Sunday event, we are moving on to bring you Prof Lisa Jevbratt with her presentation: What Do Animals See? This Sunday from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Arrowsmith's in Solvang, you will be able to find out the answer to just that.

Free Entry! Wine, Beer and Cheese Plates!

More about the talk:

Have you ever caught your cat staring at an empty space as if she sees something of great importance?

While there are plenty of animals who can perceive countless more colors than we do, for example many birds and insects, some, such as cats and dogs, perceive fewer. Nevertheless, those animals might see things we cannot...

Prof Lisa Jevbratt will present her iOS app Zoomorph which she developed with the help of animal vision scientists and with the generous support of the Creative Capital Foundation. The app simulates the color vision of non-human animals.

Come and see like an animal!

Many moons ago when I lived in England, I used to attend philosophy pub evenings in London, where I'd learn all about philosophy whilst also drinking pints of beer. Two fantastic pastimes in my book.

When I opened Arrowsmith's in Solvang, I always wanted to continue that tradition of discussions about interesting ideas whilst sipping on something nice and chewing on some cheese.

I'm really pleased to have started this series of 16 mini lectures from people in the Arts and Sciences as well as other cultural subjects. We will be presenting a different subject and speaker each week and this Sunday the 17th will be on the subject of how Hollywood spread its power around the world through the means of cinema.

Enjoy a glass of beer or wine, coffee, cheese plate or an English scone, before the work week begins again.
