A Firewise community is a neighborhood that participates in the voluntary Firewise USA® program from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to reduce wildfire risks.

The Solvang Danish Days Foundation is currently accepting applications for the 2026 Danish Maid position.

Applicants must submit a letter expressing their interest, which should include details about their Danish and/or Scandinavian family history, previous participation in Danish Days, and what representing the festival as Danish Maid means to them.

Candidates must be committed to participating in the entire Danish Days weekend and three local parades: Solvang's Fourth of July parade, Solvang Julefest in early December, and the Danish Days weekend itself.

Preference will be given to candidates who will be high school juniors or seniors during the fall of 2026, although this is not a strict requirement.

The 2026 Solvang Danish Days festival is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 18-20.

The Danish Maid will have a busy schedule in the months leading up to the event, making multiple appearances at the Solvang Farmers Market and attending meetings with the Solvang Rotary Club, the Santa Ynez Valley Rotary, the Vikings of Solvang, the Solvang Dania group, and the Danish Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

During the festival weekend, the Danish Maid will participate in the Danish Days Parade and will need to be available for media interviews and other event-related appearances.

The Artist Advocacy Foundation invites you to join us Wednesday, April 15, at the Maverick Saloon for PAVING THE WAY, a multidimensional art and entertainment program to raise funds for AAF’s Jeff McKinnon Theatre Group Scholarship, which is awarded to graduating seniors from Santa Ynez Valley High School, who have been accepted into a college-level (or equivalent) program focused on arts education and social justice.

PAVING THE WAY features musical and dramatic performances, dance and visual art by returning Theatre Group alumni, AAF Artist Grant recipients, and other Valley artists.

Our doors open at 5:30 p.m. at The Maverick (3687 Sagunto Street, Santa Ynez) the performance starts at 7 p.m. Seating is general admission on a first-come basis.

Last year, AAF awarded $4,000 through the Jeff McKinnon Theatre Group scholarship.

The Santa Barbara County Parks Department is happy to announce the first-ever Spring Fair at Cachuma Lake Recreation Area, a vibrant community event celebrating the beauty of spring, environmental stewardship, and local partnerships.

The Spring Fair will take place on May 2nd from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lanford Memorial Grove within Cachuma Lake Recreation Area.

This free, family-friendly event invites community members of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of outdoor fun.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities and attractions, including live music, food vendors, bounce house, face painting, children’s arts and crafts, and a nature-themed selfie station. • The parade typically begins in the mid-afternoon, often timed to start at the conclusion of the Kentucky Derby, roughly between 2:30 PM and 3:45 PM.

• Parade Route: Riders travel down Alisal Road through downtown Solvang, eventually turning onto Mission Drive and ending at the

Live Fast Rally was started in the Santa Ynez Valley by a group of friends. We are all hard working, professional, family men with a deep love of building and riding anything on two wheels.

The vision was a simple one, to throw an event in which people can come together and share their passion of motorcycles while enjoying a cold drink and good music. From this idea we have fostered many new relationships and found new friends.

Maybe the most profound is our connection with Band of Brothers, a local non-profit Veterans helping Veterans group. Live Fast Rally has been given the opportunity to give back to our community and Veterans through this group and we couldn’t be more proud in doing so.

The California Nature Art Museum is delighted to share our forthcoming group exhibition Ocean Forests: Our Coastal Communities, celebrating the importance of kelp forests - one of California’s most ecologically productive and diverse ecosystems.

Giant kelp is the largest marine plant on earth, with each stalk growing up to 120 ft in length and weighing up to 700 lbs. With its ten-year lifespan, giant kelp is also one of the most ecologically productive organisms in the world, sequestering and removing at least 4 million tonnes of CO2 per year.

This show will include four celebrated artists and three different mediums - photography, block printing, and textile/weaving. Each artist tells their own unique story about the vibrancy and importance of life amongst giant kelp for the purpose of education, inspiration, and ocean advocacy.

Dave Stamey has made it his life's work to celebrate the rural American west. In the past two decades he has recorded eleven albums of original music, travelled literally hundreds of thousands of miles and performed thousands of shows doing just that. He lives in the farthest north- eastern corner of Tulare County, California, and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains begin just outside his back door.

The 77th Annual Los Alamos Old Days celebration in California is traditionally held on the last full weekend of September, featuring a 5k run, car show, artisan mart, and a parade.

While specific 2026 dates are pending, based on historical schedules, the event is likely to take place around September 25-27, 2025, featuring a weekend of festivities organized by the Los Alamos Valley Men's Club

Anticipated Highlights (Based on Annual Event):

• Friday Night: Kick-off with a Chili Cook-off, dinner, and auction.

• Saturday: Classic Car Show on Bell Street and an Artisan Fair.

• Sunday: The "Greatest Little Small Town Parade," often preceded by a 5K Run/Walk.

Starting October 1, Santa Ynez Valley merchants will welcome the fall season with the annual Scarecrow Fest and Contest, inviting residents and visitors to vote for their favorite scarecrows throughout the month.

One community from the six participating townships—Ballard, Buellton, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, and Solvang—will earn the honor of the Harvest Cup Winner.

Now, 60 years later, it’s an annual cultural and educational event that allows the tribe to share their Chumash heritage with tribes from across North America and the local community.
